Every month, someone has to explain why the margin moved. Why a cost line behaved differently from the plan. What a competitor's results mean for us. You will be in the room where that explanation is built.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited is India's largest passenger vehicle manufacturer. This position sits within the Chief Financial Officer's Office and the Financial Planning and Analysis function — the small team that turns operating reality into the numbers the leadership acts on.
What the work looks like
- Budgeting and forecasting. Building volume, revenue and cost plans, then explaining every rupee of the gap when actuals arrive.
- Cost and margin analysis. Material cost, commodity movement, foreign exchange, employee cost. Finding the driver, not just the difference.
- Competitive benchmarking. Reading other manufacturers' published results and working out what they reveal.
- Management reporting. Preparing analysis and presentations that go to senior leadership, in their final form.
- Automation. Using Excel properly, and using artificial intelligence tools to remove work that should not be done by hand.
What you take away
Three things that a training year rarely gives you together: the ability to read a business through its numbers, the discipline of work that is checked before it is believed, and the habit of saying something useful in one page when you could easily have said it in ten.
Who this suits
- Curious before confident. You ask what a number means before deciding what it proves.
- Accurate under time pressure. Closing weeks do not wait, and a wrong figure is worse than a late one.
- Comfortable being corrected. Your work will be challenged. That is the point.
- Genuinely at ease with tools. Excel beyond the basics, and real curiosity about what automation can take off your desk.
That is the stipend, stated plainly. It is not the reason to take this position. The return that lasts is the exposure — live work, real deadlines, and a seat close to where finance decisions are made. Knowledge compounds long after the stipend is spent.
Said plainly, so there are no surprises
Working hours are 9:00 in the morning to 6:45 in the evening, Monday to Friday. Four days at Gurugram and one day at Vasant Kunj. During quarter-end and year-end closing, extended hours and occasional weekend working are required. If that does not suit your circumstances, this is not the right position, and it is better for both of us to know that now.
